– commemorative coins were issued, and many events, publications etc. make sure that the celebrations, which mark this anniversary, are omnipresent. Boring, isn’t it? But...
... the armed conflicts in Ukraine (Europe)?
... the effects of war in Europe’s neighbourhood?
... 'war and peace' in our society?
... inner struggles, 'war & peace' in our minds, in our daily lives?
... or are these two grand words just two sides of the same coin called “humanity"?
... know your answer and get your point of view.
The European Academy in Otzenhausen (DE) is an independent centre for political education and welcomes about 10,000 participants per year (more information: www.eao-otzenhausen.de/en). From November 16th – 21st, 2015, it organizes an international seminar for young adults from four different European countries - Germany, France, Montenegro and Croatia -, who will reflect about the different dimensions of war and peace.
They will not only focus on the political or historical aspects. They will also deal with individual peace, inner conflicts and every other facet that the terms "war and peace" can have.
In the context of the seminar the participants will launch a project, which represents their perspective on the topic in a creative way. The form and content are deliberately left open and depend on the ideas, experiences, skills ... of the group.
However, one thing is certain: Their perspectives will be presented to the public at a large-scale cultural event in Saarbrücken on 20th November 2015.
The event will take place at Römerkastell in Saarbrücken (Saarland, DE), www.cestdurlaculture.de, a former industrial area in the city. In addition to the participants, artists (such as musicians, photographers, dancers, youth groups etc.) will present their views and organize together an evening on the theme of the seminar & the photo contest. The event will start at 9.30 pm.
The European Academy of Otzenhausen organized a photo contest. Everyone could participate and the best 20 pictures were exhibited at a large-scale international event in Saarland / Germany on November 20, 2015.
